ANNOUNCEMENT OF ELECTION

Text Box: This amended announcement is for the purpose of adding one more NEA/RA Representative Position (please notice that there are now 3 rather than 2) and to clarify any misunderstanding regarding the election date, time, and place. Text Box: Election to be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from 1:30 to 6:00 p.m.  at Victor Elementary School District Educational Services Building; Nisqually Road, Victorville, CA TO VICTOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION BOARD

 

 

 

 

 

 

The CTA/VETA Unit will be holding its election for the offices of:

·   President – to serve a term of 2 years

·   Secretary – to serve a term of 2 years

·   At-large Director – to serve a term of 2 years

·   At-large Director   - to serve a term of one year

·   (3) NEA/RA Representatives – each to serve a term of 1 year

Nominations are open (which means that anyone who is a unit member is eligible to nominate any other unit member, including himself/herself for office).

The term of office for President, Secretary, and At-large Director is from May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2010.  The term of office for the second At-large Director is from May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2009.   The term of office for the three (3) NEA/RA Representatives is from May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2009.

Anyone wishing to run for office must file a Declaration of Candidacy form so that it is received by Beth Fehrs, VETA Election Committee Chair, in person or mailed to 15433 Tacony Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307, no later than 8:00 p.m. on March 11, 2008.  (Post-marked date not accepted.)

February 12

Announcement of vacancies to members via announcement at VETA Representative Meeting.

 

February 12-13

Publications (Announcement of Elections, Declaration of Candidacy, and VETA Election Timeline) distributed to site representatives & to be given to unit members.

 

March 11

Declaration of Candidacy must be received by Beth Fehrs, in person or at 15433 Tacony Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307, no later than 8:00 p.m. on March 11 (not postmarked by such date).

 

March 15

Acknowledgment of declarations of candidacy sent out.

 

March 17

Preparation and distribution of campaign statements.

 

March 27

Preparation of ballots and voter registration roster/sign-in sheets. 

 

April 7

Deadline for acceptance of all mailed absentee ballots to Beth Fehrs, in person or at 15433 Tacony Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307, no later than 8:00 p.m. on April 7 (not postmarked by such date).

April 8

Voting to take place at VESD’s Nisqually building from 1:30 p.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.

 

April 8

Ballots to be counted at voting place immediately following the close of elections; 6:00 p.m.

 

April 8-9

Announcement of results to leadership, candidates, members, and posted at each work site, which date shall not be later than five (5) calendar days following the counting of ballots.  If a runoff election is necessary, this will be included in the announcement.

 

April 12

Preparation of run-off ballots, if necessary.

 

April 14

Distribution of run-off ballots, if necessary.

 

April 18

A challenge to the election must be received by Beth Fehrs, VETA Election Chair, in person or by mail at 15433 Tacony Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307, no later than 5:00 p.m. April 18, 2008 (not postmarked by such date).
