ANNOUNCEMENT OF ELECTION FOR STATE NEA/RA REPRESENTATIVES


 

 

 


Text Box: Election of State Representatives only, to be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the VESD Educational Services Building; Nisqually Road, Victorville, CA
The CTA/VETA Unit will be holding an election for the office of:

  • NEA/RA State Representatives – each to serve a term of 1 year

Nominations are already closed for this election.  State NEA/RA Representatives will be sent by CTA to the NEA convention in July 2008.

Please take note that this is an election being held before the April 8, 2008 VETA election for board officers and locally elected NEA/RA Representatives, sent by VETA to the NEA convention in July 2008.

Election Procedure and Timeline for:
NEA/RA Delegates

Chapter presidents have the legal responsibility and obligation to give information regarding vacancies to members and also providing all members with an opportunity to vote.  The president may not decide that a chapter will not participate in the process and thus disenfranchise any member.

February 1, 2008  All Declaration of Candidacy forms must be received in the

                             HESPERIA or LANCASTER RRC office no later than 5:00 p.m.

February 8, 2008  Ballots, biographical sketches, voter sign-up sheets, and tally sheets are prepared and sent to chapters.

February 15, 2008          Voting begins.

April 1, 2008     Voting ends.  Ballots are due back to the Chapter Presidents or designee for count and certification.

April 4, 2008       VOTED BALLOTS, VOTER SIGN-UP SHEETS, AND TALLY SHEET MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HESPERIA OR LANCASTER RRC OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M.  No exceptions. (Post-marked date not accepted.)

                             Ballots returned untallied or without voter sign-up sheets will be declared invalid.

April 10, 2008     Announcement of results sent to chapter presidents.

April 25, 2008     Successful candidates must choose to go as either State Delegate or Local Delegate, if elected to both, notifying Hesperia RRC office of position accepted.

CHALLENGES   A challenging party must notify the Service Center Council Chairperson of a challenge in writing within ten calendar days after the announcement of the results of the election.
